Yogyakarta and Bandung are two of the most visited and interesting cities in Indonesia. While a few of the seven daily trains run overnight, many travellers prefer the daytime services, allowing them to enjoy the scenery along the way and arrive in Bandung refreshed and ready to explore.

Route map and details
After departing the charming city of Yogyakarta, trains to Bandung head west into the countryside, passing rice fields, small towns, and rural landscapes. If your budget allows, booking a seat in one of the Panoramic carriages is highly recommended to make the most of the scenery.
The journey ends at Bandung’s main station, conveniently located near the city centre and making it easy to continue onwards by foot, taxi, or local transport.

The easiest way to buy train tickets in Indonesia is online rather than going to the station. You do pay a very small commission but the ease and convenience makes it worthwhile in our opinion.
For the normal train, Tiket is the best place to book and has a simple to use interface and accepts international credit cards. It’s also a good place to check availability, timetables and prices.
