About the route
Because so many long-distance trains pass through, there is a train nearly every hour, from the Malabar at 00:56 to the last at 23:47, and you rarely have to wait. Around midday there are the Sancaka at 11:30, the Fajar Utama Solo at 12:37 and the Lodaya at 13:17.
Solo is a quieter city than Yogyakarta, with its own palace, the Keraton Surakarta, as well as the batik districts of Laweyan and Kauman. A day trip is an easy way to see both places, but if you want to explore the nearby Sangiran museum or the temples at Candi Sukuh, plan to stay a night.
